The world of work has changed, and continues to change at an amazing rate.

While we have to look at the business as a whole, the newer breed of employees are driven by a totally different perspective on how they want to work.  Thus businesses are having to be far more flexible, even radical, in how they support their staff.  Company-wide programmes do still work, but they have to engage the individual at the individual level as well as being embraced at the top, enable peer group and cross-silo collaboration and problem solving, and develop different approaches to leadership and the employee experience, so a new approach is needed.

Changing culture, or establishing culture, is not a quick thing to deliver, and it requires ongoing attention, otherwise it will veer from what is desired, which then takes additional effort to unpick and re-focus.

Teamworks Consulting draws on considerable practical experience of building businesses and leading teams, both in the commercial word and in the military, but also is excited by and able to tailor delivery to groups and individuals with a mix of traditional and new approaches.

The exciting thing here (Ok - yes; as a simple former Royal Naval Officer, I find the simplicity of the concept very exciting; KISS - Keep it simple stupid! A maxim to live and die by!) is that eveything that we do is very simple, for a number of reasons.

 

We believe that you can quickly see that, while there appear to be a plethora of things to consider - brand, values, organisation, reporting lines, processes, procedures, people, sales, targets, pay, bonuses, strategy, relationships, growth, the economy - as long as an over-arching approach is taken to all of these, and the very many other considerations, they do all fall into place like pieces of the jigsaw.

 

By way of example, take this frustrating wooden puzzle to represent culture 

In its basic form, it is a set of 7 differently shaped blocks. They can be put together so that all 7 of the blocks are touching another block in a variety of different ways. However, if the form that we desire is that regular cube, we instantly have a shape and form, a culture, to which it has to conform to give it sense, pupose and direction.

To quote Edgar Schein*, “…the only thing of real importance that managers do is to create and manage culture.”
